At Pilates Centered, we honor the rich heritage of two distinguished Pilates lineages: Romana Kryzanowska's classical approach and Kathy Grant's innovative methodology. Romana, a direct protégé of Joseph Pilates, emphasized the original principles of concentration, control, center, flow, precision, and breathing, utilizing specialized equipment like the Reformer and Cadillac to maintain the authenticity of classical Pilates. Her teachings focus on building strength, flexibility, and a deep mind-body connection.
In contrast, Kathy Grant, also trained by Joseph Pilates, brought a functional and rehabilitative dimension to the practice. She incorporated a deep understanding of anatomy and kinesiology, using imagery and preparatory exercises to ensure proper alignment and muscle engagement. Kathy's approach is renowned for its adaptability, making it effective for injury prevention and recovery.
